Meet Richard Matheson

Richard B. Matheson, American author and screenwriter of science fiction and fantasy. Inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame in 2010.

Matheson, the son of Norwegian immigrants, was raised in Brooklyn, NY. He was an infantry soldier in World War II and in 1949 earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism. Matheson is married and has four children, three of whom are also writers.

Matheson’s best selling novels and short stories include What Dreams May Come, The Path: A New Look At Reality, and countless others. What Dreams May Come, the basis for the hit movie of the same title starring Robin Williams, touched numerous readers with its convincing portrait of life after death, based on years of research and personal reflection. Like that earlier book, The Path is a work of inspirational fiction that comes straight from Matheson’s own deeply held beliefs about spirituality and true nature of existence. The story of one man’s encounter with an enigmatic stranger who imparts to him ten lessons about the true reality of the soul; The Path is not so much a novel as a philosophical dialogue about life and the afterlife.

Matheson spoke with me some time ago for my books Pieces of the Puzzle about our reality, multiple dimensions, and the existence of a Heaven as only we can believe and perceive of it to be. I hope you will enjoy my interview with him once the books are published, but you may also find Matheson and his writings by browsing the Internet, including the link below for your consideration of The Path, which I highly recommended for the spiritual seeker.
