Golden Koi

My golden koi fish and water lilies is a pencil and watercolor and the fish is an artist rendering of the Butterfly Koi, Longfin Koi, or Dragon Carp, which are a type of ornamental fish notable for their elongated finnage. The fish are a breed of the common carp, Cyprinus carpio, which includes numerous wild carp races as well as domesticated koi.

I hope you enjoy seeing some of the artwork that I have done for my own home, family, and friends, as simply a hobby for the heart, mind, and soul of me.

Don’t forget to take time to do the things you love to do, whether it is to pick up the brush, tickle the ivories, or dance the two-step. For play is just as important as work and when both are balanced can help us to live our best life yet.

About Koi:

Koi or more specifically nishikigoi, are colored varieties of the Amur carp that are kept for decorative purposes in outdoor koi ponds or water gardens. Koi is an informal name for the colored variants of C. rubrofuscus kept for ornamental purposes. Koi fish are colorful, ornamental versions of the common carp. Modern Japanese koi are believed to date back to early 19th-century Japan where wild, colorful carp were caught, kept and bred by rice farmers. The word “koi” comes from the Japanese word for “carp.” The carp originates from China and was brought to Japan by means of gifts. Its first Japanese mention dates back to 71AD (of Koi held by the presumed legendary Emperor Keikō). Source: Google
